Mal Fletcher Media Mission

Donation protected
I’m Mal Fletcher. I’ve spent more than 30 years, supported by our charity, helping people prepare for future change in a positive way. I’ve done this through my futurist commentary on the BBC, Sky, ABC, CNBC, SABC and many other media platforms.

Not many people do what I do in the media and right now, I need your help.
People are asking big questions about the future right now, especially in areas like mental health, education, jobs, the environment and sophisticated new technologies. I’m working hard to respond via mainstream media.

For me, helping people prepare for future change is more than public service - it’s a mission. (Most of it is unpaid).

So many of today's social problems are the result of a loss of hope. We may not be able the future-proof our lives, but we can be future-informed and future-friendly.

Please take a moment to watch my short video on this page. It outlines some of the hugely important questions I’m asked in the media and how effective the work has been!

We need to raise our overall target by the end of July 2022.

I launched this appeal at the very start of 2020, before the pandemic. I had no idea how much the demand for my research and commentary would grow in the following months!

Within a short time, generous people helped us raise an amazing £12,000 toward our original target of £20,000. Most of it came through this page! I’m hugely grateful.

Then, for a while, I put the appeal on hold, out of respect for the Covid-related challenges people and organisations were facing.

Then, in the face of new global challenges, I re-opened it, with an updated target to help meet the growing media demand. (* See samples of recent  interviews below. )

How will donations be used? We have already allocated approx £5,000 for ongoing, up-to-date research; £15,000 for commentary itself (including writing, prep, delivery); £3000 for a new web interface and media representation (to grow our contacts with the audience, producers and journalists); £3000 to help underwrite webinars and other training events, to equip younger people for this kind of media engagement; £2500 for publication of material (e.g. a new ebook on major issues); £1500 for some basic travel costs (these are such an important part of media commentary - even in the age of VOIP interviews!).

You might think, "What I can give won't help very much," but we've learned how to make even a little go a long way. Every donation is helpful, every donation is hugely appreciated.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks for watching the video. (Please support us.) Bye for now.
