Maple City Illinois Sponsor Circle
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Pam. I am part of a group of local individuals in Monmouth, Illinois, spearheaded by Immaculate Conception Church. We have applied to sponsor an Afghan family through the US State Department's community-led resettlement initiative called the Sponsor Circle Program for Afghans. The program allows everyday Americans to take on the responsibility of welcoming Afghan newcomers to their communities and pairs Afghan newcomers with community groups eager to provide support. This monetary support includes initial housing, food, medical, furniture, clothes, and miscellaneous expenses. Donations are tax-deductible. This program is a secular initiative, not religious. Therefore, evangelizing or proselytizing is not part of the program. For more information about the program, go to http://www.sponsorcircles.org/about.
Many Afghan refugees vetted by the U.S. State Department live on military bases or in rented hotel rooms. Our goal is to help a family assimilate to life in the United States by becoming part of our community through the Sponsor Circle Program for Afghans. We expect the family to arrive by late February or early March. Any support you provide will go directly to the family's needs outlined above. Thank you for your empathy and generosity. Your donation will help the displaced Afghans who hurriedly fled Afghanistan fearful of reprisal for aiding the U.S. military. The U.S. military plans resettlement for the refugees by March.
