Max Disability & Fireworks fund

The Introduction:

My name is Adriana Cea the local barber on Wellington Street in Mount Forest.The child in the picture is my brave son Max Power.

The Story So Far:

Recently on the Saturday of the fireworks festival July 20th, my son Max Power was hit by a careless driver.

He was on his way to the fireworks festival, stopping first at the car show for a quick lunch and walk with me his mom. Then off to the festival with his friends and some fun, and carnival rides. This is an important time for our family as it coincides with his birthday July 23rd. So having that time violently altered into a 5 day stay in the Children’s Hospital with a large operation, was life changing and a rough end to his birthday.

The Diagnosis:

His leg was broken in 2 places the tibia and fibula, the break was severe and he was sent to Hamiltons children’s hospital where some amazing doctors took 2 chunks of metal and some skill and put his leg back together. To say he was a tough champ is an understatement. He cannot put weight on his leg as the break needs time to set or it might be shortened and cause a limp. That means constant care by one of his parents.

Sadly this means I’ve had to take time off work to prep the house for 6 months of round the clock care, and wheelchair accessibility. To be the care giver, provide support for my husband who is also disabled, and my newly immobilized son. As a single income family, we are nearly run off our feet but no work is too great for our children. As I am not working though money is slow. With ramps, seats, transfers, walkers, all rentals, wheelchair purchase, constant biweekly trips to Hamilton, gas is getting expensive and the rainy day fund is…well it’s been raining.

What your donations will do:

Each donation will go to returning Max to his original happy, healthy state. We also would like to throw a fireworks show to make up for his rather painful birthday. Which you will be more than happily invited. To maybe replace the memory with a new better one with people that care and helped him get better. You will also receive a personal thanks from Max, to acknowledge your kindness.
