Midwife's Push for Improved Maternity Care
Donation protected
Hi there!
I'm Tracey, a passionate midwife who is pregnant with my second, and final, baby. I've made a decision to shave my head as I approach the final stretch of my pregnancy to raise money for an issue I feel strongly about.
Sadly in Australia, our maternity care system is failing many families with 1 in 3 women experiencing birth trauma and 1 in 10 enduring obstetric violence. Fortunately, we have a solution: midwifery continuity of care! Studies consistently show this leads to a more positive birth experience and improved outcomes for both mothers and their newborns. This is a model of care that is provided by the same midwife, or a small team of midwives, during pregnancy, labour and birth, and the postnatal period.
I've chosen to support the Maternity Consumer Network, which is a group advocating for optimal maternity care in Australia. One of their many missions is to ensure that every Australian woman can access the gold standard: midwifery continuity of care.
Please join me in making a positive difference. Every contribution brings us a step closer to a better future for Australian maternity care. Together we can not only impact the health and wellbeing of mothers, their babies, and families but in turn, create a ripple effect that positively impacts society as a whole.
Thank you for walking alongside me on this journey!
Tracey :)
P.S. My hair will also be sent to Sustainable Salons to be made into a charitable wig for Variety or the Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation.
P.P.S. Estimated date of shave is the first day of summer :D
