"Miles for Mel" Lillian Bike Ride Fundraiser!
We have a great opportunity to help support the Lillian family, who is going through a challenging time right now.
THE WHY
Andy Lillian's wife Melanie ("Mel"), has been bravely battling stage III breast cancer since January of 2018. Her condition has recently "progressed" into stage IV cancer, which has metastasized into her bones, and led to the fracture of one of her hips when she fell a short time ago.
Mel is relatively immobile right now in order to give her body a chance to heal, as she is preparing to receive radiation and other treatments, which are very expensive, running several thousand dollars $$$ a week. Although insurance helps, this has placed a significant financial burden on the Lillian family, and we want to help.
Please see Mel's Instagram - "mels_hike" for some amazing posts about her journey!
THE WHAT
In an effort to bring awareness and support to Mel and Andy Lillian, we are scheduling a special ride and fundraiser in her honor and their family's behalf.
While there is no cost to participate in the ride, we respectfully request that everyone who is able to contribute, donate whatever they feel is appropriate ($35, $50, or more) to the Lillian family to help defray the extraordinary costs that they are having to bear. This really is a great cause!
THE WHERE & WHEN
The "Miles for Melanie" ride will be on Saturday, June 15 with a start time of 7:00 am. The start location: ARGO PARK - 6227 Argo Cir, Highland UT 84003
The route will take us to Hobble Creek and back for 80 to 100 miles. The ride will be self-supported with several planned stops along the way at gas stations for riders to refill water and purchase food supplies.
Don't want to ride 80 to 100 miles?
Feel free to ride just a few miles, or just come to the start line as a show of support for the Lillian family and send the riders off with a big cheer.
PLEASE make plans to come and support the Lillian family and have a great ride with us!
* You are encouraged to invite others and forward this post!
