Heal from Trauma using Indie Soul
I’ve been threatening to record this album for years. Thanks to your encouragement, we are returning to the studio. The new tunes speak to recovery from trauma and it’s dripping with soul, funk, blues, and jazz.
Honestly, I put my hopes and failures out there like clothes on the line for anyone to see. There’s nothing like soul music, it seeps into you and marinates you in feeling.
I am asking for help because I want to do this album right! Many of the tunes share the stories of the process of leaving and healing from an abuse and I want to production value to do them justice. Also, apparently, quality musicians don’t play for free.
Now we need your help to cover a few of the costs. Your donations will help cover horns, strings, and mastering at Abbey Road.
The new tunes are a risk. First, because I’m sharing both other’s and my own stories of abuse and learning how to love again. I don’t want to let the others down. Second, I’ve made myself vulnerable with each lyric. It’s hard to admit to a history of abuse and failure. It’s even harder to sing a love song after so many heartbreaks. You’ve heard two singles from the upcoming album, Don’t Sacrifice is very “Mirenda Band Soul”, an attitude infused declaration that abuse is not love. In contrast, Go, is pure, old school soul, chronicling my realisation that I deserve respect in love.
We are hard at work and with your help wewill release the album in May.
