Mr. Johnson's Return Home

Mr. Johnson is returning home to his family and community after being incarcerated for 20 years. The Parole Advocacy Project has been working to secure Mr. Johnson's release since June 2022. This January, Mr. Johnson was granted parole. Mr. Johnson is extremely excited to be reunited with his loved ones and to finally get the chance at life that he deserves. However, reentering society after being incarcerated, especially after being incarcerated for a period as long as 20 years, is incredibly challenging for anyone. Mr. Johnson needs your support throughout this process. His immediate needs include funding for independent housing, transportation, counseling, education resources, and other basic necessities (such as food, a phone, and clothes). A message from Mr. Johnson: "Coming up as a youth, I had big dreams & and even greater aspirations to become someone or something great in life…Unfortunately for me, throughout my childhood, I experienced a lot of misfortunes and setbacks, due to a huge amount of trauma & tragic events that occurred in my past. At an early age, I made a choice to deal with these problems and events by medicating myself with illegal drugs and alcohol, which eventually led me down the spiraling path of a criminal lifestyle…Today I can honestly say that I am wholeheartedly thankful and proud of the person I have become…Today I understand that I do need help and I am not ashamed to ask for it. I am hoping and praying to raise enough funds to assist me in a successful re-entry…It has certainly been a long, exasperating journey. fortunately, with the help of all you wonderful, fine people. I will be well on my way to becoming the person I was meant to be. I truly believe in my heart that together as one, we can assist in making this world a better place. Gradually, one step at a time.
