On August 13th, 2019 Daniel Lovell passed as a result of his on going battle with PTSD.
With his family's permission, a few of Danny's friends are preparing a 501(c)(3) non-profit in his name focused on helping veterans and active duty soldiers who suffer from PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and other related issues.
The MSG Daniel Lovell Foundation is a non-profit initiative aimed at combating veteran suicides through a variety of automotive-based programs. MDLF is focused on providing a team setting that many veterans miss after completing their military service. Teams of veterans work together on automotive restorations to donate to other in-need veterans, or as a team preparing for the 24 Hours of Lemons. It provides a setting where veterans can share stories and provide emotional support while working towards a common goal. MDLF provides national awareness by participating in car shows, amateur races, and organizing other awareness events.
There are three projects we are currently working to fund.
PTSD awareness vehicle for Beth, Danny's mom. Danny had a 72 GMC truck that we will finish restoring and return to his mother. This vehicle will participate in car shows and other events to bring awareness to the foundation and it's cause along with some other surprises to be added.
Our flagship vehicle: The Raptor. The foundation intends to purchase Danny's 2013 Ford Raptor and outfit it as our tow truck. The Raptor will accompany us to all events and be responsible for towing all project vehicles.
Our first Lovell's Lemons project. Lovell's Lemons is a program that provides a group setting where veterans with PTSD, TBI, and other afflictions can work together towards a common goal. This program starts with a $500 car that is allowed minimal work in order to race in the 24 Hours of Lemons. This will be our first project to be completed by afflicted servicemembers. More news to follow as race dates are confirmed and prospective vehicles are located.
