New Food Bank Garden Shed Fund Raiser
Donation protected
Hi, this is Amy and I’m one of the volunteer Committee Members of JVM Food Bank Garden.
We are asking for your support in our efforts to replace the 20+ year old greenhouse at the Garden with a New Cedar Shed.
Our reasons being:
- We can only use the greenhouse for limited storage as it cannot be properly secured.
- All our tools, wheelbarrows, tables and supplies are stored in the existing shed and what can’t fit is kindly stored in Committee member’s garages, off site.
A new shed would allow us to:
- Reorganize all our wheelbarrows, wagon, tables, irrigation supplies, soils and crates for easy access
- Secure them behind heavy, wood double doors
- Store everything on site instead of lugging elsewhere
- Use the existing shed for accessible hand tools, organic supplements and all the incidentals we use weekly
The garden is run completely by a small group of dedicated volunteers on a very small budget. Last year, despite the late, cold wet spring which caused the failure of our carrots and beets to germinate - we grew and delivered 2,489 pounds of nutritious, chemical free vegetables to Sky Valley Food Bank, next door.
The new cedar shed will make our tasks much more easily handled. It will be owned by the Food Bank and the existing greenhouse will be disassembled, cleaned and repurposed by the Parks dept. to raise the flowers used throughout the city.
We thank you in advance for any donation towards our goal.
