Orkneys to Lands End Cycle Ride

Shu’fat refugee camp is located just north of the old city of Jerusalem and is home to 40,000 refugees, half of which are children.
It separated from the city by an 8 meter wall, illegal settlements and a single checkpoint.

The camp is served by a medical centre for disabled children and adults, including those with special needs.
The ongoing challenges faced by those using the centre and indeed, the centre itself, have dramatically intensified.

The United Nations Relief Works Agency ( UNRWA) has been ordered to close its schools in the camp.
Any activity within the schools will be illegal and deemed to be a criminal act.
Funding for crucial resources has been drastically cut, leaving many without access to essential services, healthcare and education.

The centre, run by volunteers, is having to meet the extra demand created by those drastic cuts and the worsening situation.

The cycle from the Orkneys to Lands End is to help raise funds for essential equipment and resources for ongoing projects at the centre, which play a vital role in supporting the health, well-being and development of children and adults with disabilities.

One such project is aimed at children between 6yrs and 12yrs of age who have Cerebral Palsy
This would endow the centre with a Cerebral Palsy and Speech and Language Therapy Unit in order to improve the quality of life, communication and help achieve social interaction for the children.
