STA Orndorff Legacy Fund

Almost 40 years ago one man had the vision to establish a long-distance hiking trail in the Daniel Boone Forest that would run the entire length of the Forest. Following on the growing popularity of the Appalachian Trail, Forest Service employee Verne Orndorff patched together existing trials, some new trails, and the back country roads to build the 287 mile Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail.
Today each of us benefits from the visionary work of Verne and his long time friend Doug Billips. Verne has gone now but he leaves behind a tremendous "legacy" for all us to protect, preserve and promote to make sure the Trace is there for generations to come.
Established in 2016 following the passing of Trace founder, Verne Orndorff, The Legacy Fund is an endowment fund were your donations will be held in trust and the interest earned on the endowment will be used to continue the work and vision of Verne.
