Team RJ
5 year old non-verbal autistic boy battling

 leukemia.

Sunday, October 20th 2019 was just like
any other Sunday for single mother Staci
Dial. Running  errands, cleaning the house and watching her five children play ( 2 who are non verbal and autistic, and the oldest has epilepsy). As evening approaches 5
year old RJ who is autistic and non verbal
spikes a slight fever. Later on he starts
pulling and messing with his ear. Like most mothers, Staci assumed it was probably
an ear infection starting. Luckily he had a
routine doctors appointment the next day
to get his vaccination shots and the doctor could look at his ear then. Not knowing
their never ending nightmare was about to
begin, they headed to the appointment.
While at the appointment RJ’s doctor did
not want to do the shots due to the fever
and decided to do some blood work just to be safe. They got the ok and headed home, however before they arrived Staci received a phone call that would change her life
forever. It was the doctor office saying
she needed to bring RJ back immediately.
Then they receive the news no parent
should ever have to hear...
His bone marrow isn’t producing....
RJ has leukemia.
Rushing up to the Minneapolis Children’s
Hospital,  RJ went through multiple tests.
They found out it was ALL.
(Acute lymphocytic leukemia) a type of
cancer of the blood and bone marrow that
effects white blood cells.)
Since then RJ has had to endure many
procedures such as blood transfusions,
bone marrow extractions and
chemotherapy.
Can you imagine a five-year-old little boy
with dark brown hair and big brown eyes
bewildered and scared not knowing what is
going on? Wondering why he cannot leave
the hospital, Terrified every time a nurse or
doctor enters his room. Can you imagine
being that child’s mother or father?
knowing there is nothing you can do other than pray and beg for a miracle.
RJ has a strong,  loving  support system
behind him and his parents have not left his
side but their nightmare is just beginning.
They have a long, hard, scary road ahead of
them and things will start to add up with all
the medical appointments at the hospital
that is over an hour away. Not being able to work and worrying how the bills are going
to be paid or how they are going to make
multiple trips a week to the hospital.
Let’s  come together and bring a little light
in this incredible  families darkest days.

Please help in any way you can. Whether
it is donating money, sharing or simply
saying a
prayer for them.

The family is very thankful for all the help
and kind words they have received and
thanks you from the bottom of their hearts.
We will continue to give updates as we
receive them.
