Our Work and Vision:
For more than a year, neighbors in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia have been organizing to create a new community garden at Pleasant Playground located at 6757 Chew Avenue.

The Pleasant Playground Community Garden is a place where neighbors of all ages and demographics can come together to grow our community while growing food. The garden will increase access to healthy food, provide educational opportunities to learn organic food production, promote physical activity and health, and create a shared green space for neighbors to commune, connect with the environment and share their gardening experiences.

About Pleasant Playground:
The garden is located at Pleasant Playground, a 4.7 acre Philadelphia Parks and Recreation facility that serves as a vibrant hub for the neighborhood with with its pool, ball fields, tennis, basketball and volleyball  courts, and active community center.

Can You Help?
In November 2019, the City of Philadelphia approved the community’s plans for the garden! The Pleasant Playground Community Garden Committee has the support of the Pleasant Playground Advisory Council and FarmPhilly, but we need your help to make this project a reality .

Your Donation of Any Amount Will Help Toward the Goal of Breaking Ground Spring 2020! 

Suggested Donation Levels: Seedling ($10), Sprout ($25), Green Thumb ($50) Garden Tender ($100), Backyard Gardener ($150), Organic Grower ($200), Seed Saver ($500), Horticulturalist ($1000),and Urban Farmer ($5000)

Please note: Your donation goes directly to the Pleasant Playground Garden Fund cared by the Pleasant Playground Advisory Council. All donations go directly to support the build-out and sustainment of the garden as well as events and programing. Donors will be recognized by having their names added to  our donor recognition signage that will be part of the community garden infrastructure. Donations are not tax-deductible.
