Lavenham Falconry the Raptor Conservancy is a home to a quirky collection of captive bred birds of prey and reptiles, some of which are dumped, abandoned or unwanted. Our latest intake consisted of 2 fully grown Sulcata tortoises that were found 3 weeks after their owner had passed away, these will be cared for by our team, but with the increase of energy bills, we are unsure how long we can keep going. Our centre is staffed predominantly by a dedicated team of volunteers and is funded by off site visits and experiences. We provide educational support to schools and visit residential homes. We use our birds and reptiles to educate groups on conservation and environmental issues. We are far more than just a bird of prey centre.
As of 2027 new Legislation are being put into place to streamline all falconry centres into zoos, this is something we have been looking at, but much further down the line.
This now means we need to move to a new venue and re build a whole new centre or we will HAVE TO CLOSE.
So this is the start of a sincere and heartfelt plea to help us purchase land, jump through the hoops of planning permissions and build the new centre.
We have been a home for these beautiful birds and reptiles for 14 years, starting as just a hobby with 4 birds to the large collection of 53 birds and reptile collection we have today.
Thank you, your continued support over the years is truly appreciated.
