Dear Pocketeers,
As you all know Pocket Bar NYC & Back Pocket Bar NYC has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. These 300 square foot bars might be small, but their impact is huge. It’s a place where strangers become friends, and friends become family. Not only do owners Suzy & Joe give their whole hearts to these bars every single day, they also give their whole hearts to their staff. Each bartender receives a full benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k, and employee meals. Because of the mandated shut down of all bars and restaurants, our Sharknado is taking a little shark nap in its sea cave, and our Bourgeoisie Bear is taking a little hibernation in its den.
Even amongst the hardest economic time for the bars, Suzy and Joe have personally committed to pay each employee’s health insurance for as long as possible. All of us bartenders got together and thought we would do whatever it takes to keep these bars open, for Suzy and Joe who have given us all so much, and for each person who has walked into the bar and felt the magic.
We are starting this campaign to help afford each employee’s health insurance, and the monthly expenses that keep the lights on, the doors open, and the Celine Dion blasting! Truly, thank you for your unending support and generosity. We would not be who we are without you, our loyal Pocket patrons. We love you!
