Rally for the Butlers!

One of our own could use our support! Wanda Butler has served our community as Newsome’s Head of the Custodial department for 22 years. I am sure if you ask your Newsome student or any employee, past & present, they’ll attest to her hard-working and kind nature while caring for our campus.

On November 17th, the Butlers were notified that the developer, who recently bought the property they’ve rented for the past 13 years, is evicting them to pursue their business plan. They must be out by the end of the year! They usually could rally and handle this situation alone. However, Wanda’s husband Randy has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung & brain cancer, is unable to work, and their savings are being depleted, thus, a down payment is now unavailable. The Butlers have 43 days to find a home, able to house Wanda, Randy, their two sons, and two dogs. They are currently working with a fantastic realtor, and their needs include funds to furnish a down payment for a mortgage or rental. As Wanda is having surgery on January 3rd, she may also have needs in the future, such as meals and transport for Randy’s chemo treatments. More on those needs to come later.
