Rebuild Kees Staps' Fire Ravaged Pottery
Donation protected
Our friends, Kees Staps and Carol Joyce, were two of the many people who had to evacuate when the fires ripped through their community at Yatte Yattah (near Conjola) on New Year’s Eve. They returned to find Kees’ pottery studio burnt to a twisted shell (luckily their house was intact due to the building materials used). As well as the building, Kees lost all his stock, equipment, kiln and tools and unfortunately there was no insurance on it. As a potter’s partner and a crafter, I know the years and energy that go into building a studio piece by piece and I know how heartbreaking this must be for Kees. He does such beautiful work (especially his crystalline glazes) and I’d like to see him be able to create again. We can all use a little beauty right now. If you can help Kees in any way with this rebuild, I’d be most appreciative. You can see Kees at work in his video below.
