Roo’s Garden Funds
Donation protected
Hello, I have set up this page to help raise funds towards Reubens wheelchair friendly and sensory accessible garden area.
All funds raised will be put towards all the work being done and to get all the outdoor sensory equipment needed
Reuben was born a healthy little boy, meeting milestones slower than average but still doing everything that he should be doing. By 9 months old we noticed his right foot and eye were both starting to turn inwards, health professionals didn’t seem concerned.
At 14 months old Reuben was just finding his feet to start walking Independantly, it was amazing to see. However, this didn’t last for long before Reuben started to show regression in his development.
Reuben was sent for an MRI scan in March 2019 to see as to why he was losing his abilities that he had gained. At first we were told everything was ok, but our world came crashing down when we were sent to Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) to actually find out that our son had a rare condition called ‘Metachromatic Leukodystrophy’ (MLD)
We were told that he had a life expectancy of 2-5 years and over the coming months he would lose ALL of his independence and become wheelchair&adult dependant.
Reuben is now fed using a GastroJejunal feeding tube and due to severe reflux NOTHING can go through his tummy port everything is given into his Jejunum
Reuben is an amazing little boy who uses his bright blue eyes to communicate to those around him.
