Sara’s Brain Tumour Surgery & Recovery
So I was diagnosed with a Pineal Brain Tumour about 7 weeks ago… things hadn’t been right for quite some time and I finally got the answers I needed. Unfortunately time has not on my side and the tumour was not allowing any CSF flow through my brain also causing Tectal plate pressure on everything it touched, meaning I was deteriorating and fast. I still don’t know how I managed to find the amazing surgeon in a matter of days, but I’m pretty sure fate had its hand in there somewhere.
Long story short, emergency surgery on Tuesday to remove the Tumour which has meant a full craniotomy and one less brain tumour.
For those of you who know me well you all know I am the last person you would ever expect to ask for help. I have always just been the one to get it done myself one way or another. Unfortunately this time it’s actually not going to be that easy. I have been self employed for just over a year and that means no holiday or sick pay for what could be a 4 plus month recovery. I have private health that covers the bulk of the hospital but they only contribute a minuscule amount leaving surgeon, anaesthetists, OT and Physio fees of $65k. Then I have to some how fund the recovery period … which could be many months. If you can’t help financially I completely understand, hugs will also help get me there.
From the bottom of my heart thank you, every little bit helps more than you know ❤️
