Hi, my name is Jasmin Yeung and since 2016, I’ve been the proud owner of VYbE Dance Company, a small local dance studio in Markham, Ontario just north of Toronto. My personal journey began in 2003 as a VYbE student, to teacher, director, and finally to owner and creative director. This has been the training grounds for countless dancers that it has become a wonderful community. I am beyond honoured and proud to call VYbE my home.
HOW COVID HAS AFFECTED US
Due to COVID-19, we have had to close our doors and suspend all our in-studio operations. We have tried our best to keep the community active by spreading positivity through free online content. We also moved our classes online in an attempt to sustain and pay bills while shut down orders are in place. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned, as we realized that the demand for online dance services were unable to meet our needs. We have applied for government assistance, small business loans, and negotiated rent relief. We feel that we have exhausted all our options, and our last resort is to ask for your help in financial support as an attempt to keep our studio open.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We hope to see you involved in any way you can! You can donate, share this fundraiser and campaign videos to your friends and family, and come out to support our 2-day workshops with our faculty and amazing friends of VYbE.
FUNDRAISING GOALS
Our goal is to raise $25,000 in order to cover rent, utilities, insurance, and online services for the past 5 months, as well as some post lockdown start-up costs. This includes but is not limited to protective equipment, sanitation materials, and compensation for reduced class sizes. Without these funds, we will have no choice but to close our studio in the very near future.
WHAT WE'RE DOING
We have set some mini donation goals where, when they are met, our students, faculty, and friends of VYbE (stay tuned for some BIG NAMES...!!) will participate in some fun challenges *wink*. These will be filmed, and some may even be on IG Live! We'll also have some surprise giveaways so keep your eyes out for that!
