During this pandemic we feel we have a duty to support our local community. Knockavoe School are celebrating their 15th Anniversary and they provide a fantastic service to the local community.
We realise that mental health will be a major issue as the pandemic subsides. The Koram Centre will play a major part in our community coming through this. Strabane Sigersons GAA club is a Gaelic sports club in Strabane. We have been in existence for over 30 years. We have approximately 30 teams both male and female and varying from under six to adult football. We are a fundamental part of the community with a membership of 500 plus members. At this time the club has taken a leading role in the community and has engaged its members in this very worthy fundraising drive. Knockavoe school provides for children with special needs and disabilities in the Strabane area. It welcomes children from all faiths and places an emphasis on providing a caring nurturing education for all. The school is celebrating its 15th anniversary and our Gaelicr club feels that they are worthy recipients of our charitable endeavour. The Koram Centre is a registered charity which provides counselling, psychotherapy, psycho- social support and complimentary therapy. We believe mental health is a primary concern in the midst of the pandemic and so decided to make this the joint recipient of our fund raising. We raised a grand total of £22500 and this will be split evenly between both beneficiaries. The funds will be spent at the discretion and the needs of both institutions. The recipients will each receive a cheque for £11250 payable to each organisation.
