Shining Stars Music Academy is an independently-run community initiative in upper Torfaen, providing weekly singing lessons for both individuals and groups (two children's groups, and one for adults). Led by professional singer and music teacher, Rebecca Osmond (Bec), the Academy caters for all ages - from pre-schoolers to pensioners!
Since lockdown, Bec has been unable to facilitate group sessions, with a handful of individual lessons taking place via zoom. Sadly, Government guidelines still make group singing an impossible task, and there's no indication of when the children and adult choirs might be able to come together and sing once more.
All members of Shining Stars (for U16's) and A Stars (ladies over 16) are missing their friends, their wonderful teacher and the joy and wellbeing that singing together brings. More importantly, the loss of weekly subscriptions mean that Bec has experienced a dramatic decline in income but an increase in operational expenditure, having to purchase new equipment and invest in technology to develop a completely new provision online.
We need to make sure that Shining Stars Music Academy survives the tough and challenging months ahead, and that our community and our children can continue to do what they love most - to sing!

Please donate, if you can. Every penny will go directly to Shining Stars Music Academy and will support running costs, safeguarding the future of this much-loved music resource. For example:
£1 would provide music/ lyrics for a pupil with no printer at home
£5 would subsidise one week's loss of income from a group member
£10 would fund Zoom for a month
