Summer 2020 Equipment/Improvement Fund Drive

Summer 2020 EQUIPMENT / IMPROVEMENT FUND DRIVE for Berkley Hills Cemetery - Johnstown, PA. This 154 year old cemetery has no income and there has never been any perpetual care set up - families are suppose to maintain their plots and that just wasn't happening. The cemetery fell into disrepair for a couple of year till myself and a few  other volunteers became involved in 2005. The grass has been cut and trimmed showing the proper respect for over 1000 people At Rest many are Veterans and Children. There is about 5 acres of mowing to maintain. 

We need equipment. Plain and simple. The only riding mower is 17 years old and broke down again last time it was used. All of the other equipment needed has been provided by Volunteers. Thank you to Upper Yoder Twp Supervisors for purchasing a very secure shipping container for on-site equipment storage.  

If we reach a $6,000 goal it would change the Cemetery for many years to come. We need a new dependable riding mower with leaf bagger. We need push mowers, weed-eaters and a leaf blower. We need topsoil, grass seed as well as fuel and maintenance. I have some other projects like adding gravel to the roads and a fence for an unmarked grave area. We need equipment to level/reset several fallen headstones.  In addition I have started cleaning some of the very old stones. Lastly we have a prime location for a flagpole with solar lighting.

Checks can also be dropped off at any First National Bank (FNB) branch -  we never know who donated just the deposit notice. 

I will be installing a banner at the entrance to track our goal progress.
