Kristi and girls Memorial Fund for Brian Taphouse

Donation protected
We lost Brian Taphouse (33) on April 11, 2020.

Brian began having trouble breathing on Sunday, March 22 and was admitted to the hospital in Owosso, Michigan with suspected pneumonia. Monday morning, Brian was placed on a ventilator to assist his breathing. Tuesday, Brian was fighting for his life. The amazing staff at Memorial hospital were able to stabilize Brian enough to be airlifted to the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Unfortunately this is where Brian would spend the next 18 days, which would also turn out to be his final 18 days. Though the staff at U of M worked tirelessly and heroically to combat an unknown enemy, it was not enough.

Brian tested positive for Covid-19. He was the first confirmed case in Shiawassee County, Michigan and would later become the first victim to this devastating illness.

Brian leaves behind his loving wife, Kristi and two beautiful daughters, Brianna (6) and Kalyn (2). Brian, as the sole breadwinner for their family, blessed his family with the gift of letting Kristi stay home, giving her the amazing opportunity to homeschool their daughters. With Brian's passing, the door to homeschooling is quickly closing as impending financial burden's will force Kristi to reenter the workforce.

Everyone who knew Brian considered him a friend. Brian was the most giving person. He gave generously and frequently with whatever gifts he had available to him; usually his time and his skills. Brian was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and with the help of his most loyal companion, Willow, was always out in the woods tracking someone's deer; whether it was his or anyone who called him to lend a hand. He never hesitated to drop what he was doing to come mow someone's lawn, cut up someone's downed tree, fix someone's leaking roof, or just lend a hand. He was a giver. Now we ask that you would carry on Brian's legacy and give generously to support the ones he loved the most; Kristi, Brianna, Kalyn, and Willow.

We are no longer giving to support Brian's recovery by picking up a few medical bills. We are now giving to support Brian's beautiful family to be able to live the life that Brian built for them. To allow the girls to continue their homeschool education and to support their future education through college funds for the girls. Our community is amazing and the love and support we have to give stretches wide and far. We ask that you would please share that love and support by giving generously to this beautiful family as Brian gave generously to all of those that came in contact with him. Thank you!
