Support for the Lizama Family

On Saturday 10/16/21 our dear friends Dominic, Tina, Grace and Austin Lizama were involved in a tragic accident. While beginning their drive home from fall break in Destin, a truck crossed the center lane and struck their vehicle head on.  As the driver, and with little reaction time, Dominic attempted to miss the truck but ended up taking the majority of the impact.  By doing that, he saved his family but unfortunately he paid the ultimate price. Dominic passed away in the accident, the children were taken by life flight to the nearest pediatric hospital and Tina to a different hospital nearby. Grace remains in the ICU with several broken ribs, lacerations to her kidney and heavy damage to her spleen. Tina suffered a cracked sternum and Austin has cracked vertebrae among other injuries. Grace (ZCHS Senior) & Austin (ZCHS Freshman) are currently and will remain in neck braces for healing. They are in great medical hands and are working to heal physically, but emotionally this will be a hard road for the Lizama family. Please join us in supporting them any way you can. They will have a long journey of physical and emotional healing ahead, and we would love to help alleviate some of the burden of financial stress that this accident and losing Dominic will cause.

 

Funeral arrangements will follow, and we will keep this page up to date with information on Grace, the family and plans to celebrate Dominic's life. If you knew Dominic, you knew his infectious laugh, smile and kind heart. He would do anything to help a friend, neighbor or even a stranger. Please come together with us to support Tina, Grace and Austin.
