Support Miranda's Battle Against Leukemia

Hello, my name is Sean and I am Miranda’s father. I wanted to share Miranda’s story in hopes to help her through this challenging time. Only a few people are aware of what Miranda has been struggling with, but with things getting worse and her health not improving we aren’t left with much of a choice.

This time last year Miranda’s health began to decline. As time went by she began to see her bones and muscles deteriorating very quickly. She was also seeing extreme weight loss. It took months for the doctors to finally diagnose her with two autoimmune diseases, Sjorgens Syndrome and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

At this point her health was severely declining, her joints were swelling, her electrolyte levels were severely off, and she was being hospitalized. She began taking medication to try to control the symptoms and improve her autoimmune diseases. Although, these medications caused side effects themselves. And she was not seeing improvement. At this point, her bones and muscles were deteriorating very rapidly. Every day tasks were becoming more and more challenging for her.

Even with the medications, she was still seeing swelling, getting various infections, facing kidney dysfunction, and having to be hospitalized. She also developed rheumatoid lung disease which is effecting her breathing.

The doctors spent months thinking that her autoimmune diseases were what was attacking her health. Although, she was finally seen by a Doctor who offered clarity. She ended up being diagnosed with Leukemia. Because it took so long to diagnose it has already spread to various parts of her body. It has currently taken over her bones, spread to her kidneys, and is spreading to her lymph nodes as well. This explained all of the symptoms that she is having.

She started chemo therapy three weeks ago and the treatments have also had a severe impact on her health.

For a few months now, Miranda has been unable to work. This has not only been financially difficult, but also difficult for her to not be able to do what she loves as well. Anyone who knows Miranda knows how hard she fought and strived to get where she is at today. She has been struggling lately feeling like everything that she has worked so hard for has all been taken away from her. She overcame many childhood struggles to get where she is at today. All odds were against her. Although, she still managed to graduate college with honors and earn her teaching credential. She has been a teacher now for three years and has loved and cherished every moment of it. Miranda goes above and beyond for all of her students. She has even had the privilege to build relationships with them outside of the classroom. She has made a wonderful impact on many of their lives. All she wants to do is return back to the classroom as soon as possible. Knowing that she can be a blessing in students lives is what keeps her fighting.

Although, she is remaining strong, her optimism through this situation has been running low. So, she would appreciate any prayers that she can possibly get.

With being out of work and her husband having to take so much time off to take her to her treatments and appointments they have been financially struggling. It has became hard to afford many necessities, bills, gas to get back-and-forth to treatments, medications, medical bills, etc. As a family, we have been doing all we can to help support them. But Miranda has still been extremely stressed trying to make ends meet. All we want is for her to be able to focus on getting well. I know that where we are at with our economy, many are struggling financially. So, if you are someone who cannot help, Miranda always appreciates prayers. If you know what Miranda has been through, and if you know her story, you know that she has fought so hard for the life she has today. She does not deserve to be going through this battle. But I am confident that God has a plan. So, any help and prayers would be greatly appreciated.
