Hi, this is Skip Jones, and I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend Paul Biondi. If you know Paul, you know he's spent his life lifting others up through his music, his humor, and his generosity. Now, after a devastating car wreck, it's our turn to lift him up.
On the night of August 9, just after midnight, Paul was driving home from Florence when everything changed in an instant. At milepost 33 on Hwy 126 near Walton, the car he was in, graciously loaned from Lahala Church, was demolished in a terrible wreck. It's unknown what caused the wreck; Paul may have been having a medical incident from Type 2 Diabetes, but it's all a blank to him.
By some miracle, Paul walked away. The airbags saved his life, but his body paid a heavy price. Bruised, battered, and shaken, Paul is now recovering while also managing the ongoing challenges. The biggest issue right now is the damage to his instruments. All eight of Paul's horns are damaged and unplayable at this point. He's being loaned a couple of saxophones and borrowing a clarinet so he can resume playing and support himself.
Even in the ER, Paul's humor shone through. Doctors joked about wiring his jaw shut, not because it was broken, but because "he talks too darn much." Paul laughed right along with them. That's Paul, even in pain, he brings light and laughter.
But behind the smiles, he faces tough realities. Paul is taking some time to heal before he can get back to performing the music that not only sustains him but brings joy to countless others. The real problem is the cost of repairing his instruments. Paul has always been the one to show up for people in need. He's been there for friends, family, and community members without hesitation. Now, he's the one who needs us.
If Paul's music, kindness, or friendship has ever touched your life, please consider donating today. Every gift, no matter the size, will help cover his repair expenses that have been estimated at 10K!. If you can't give, please share this page to spread the word.
Paul's words say it best: "I'm still standing, and I'll figure out the rest as time goes on."
Let's make sure he doesn't have to figure it out alone.
We'll be posting photos of the car and updates on Paul's instrument repairs to share the progress made possible by your kindness. Please keep Paul in your thoughts, prayers, and hearts as he takes this difficult road to recovery.
