Support the Displaced Families of Sudan

The Umbada community from Khartoum has been hugely affected by the ongoing war in Sudan, which has now lasted for more than 11 months. Like many others in Khartoum, these families (most of whom are working class) have been forced to evacuate their homes. They have ended up in in Jerada, a rural village in the Northern state of Dongola, and live in barely habitable dilapidated shelters which were originally constructed more than one century ago .

The situation in Sudan is critical. During the holy month of Ramadan this community is facing severe hardships, and struggling to afford basic necessities. Their children are missing out on their education, and all are faced with the threat of disease due to inadequate healthcare facilities.

The displacement they underwent was not only a physical journey but also caused profound emotional upheaval, leaving them without their possessions and the comfort of their community.

Among these families, some are trapped in war-torn areas, unable to escape due to financial constraints. Others face dire health challenges, requiring surgeries they cannot afford, while many are struggling to meet basic food needs. They also lack steady income, savings, employment opportunities, and have not received support from non-governmental organisations.

This fundraiser will go towards two streams of support - displaced family support and emergency medical aid. We have accounted for GBP to USD conversion and the Go Fund Me fee in our calculations.

We are fundraising to collect £14,000 in support of the Umbada community, which will be distributed in USD ($).

For each case, we've listed the name of the individual or family, their specific condition or need, and the estimated amount of financial support required to address their situation.
