The Angelito collective is a creative initiative prioritizing trans and queer visibility in the development and sustainability of an economic network for us and by us. In collaboration with multidisciplinary artists on an international scale, we are committed to the creation of space and cultivation of immersive experiences for our community. It is our goal to provide documentation for our increasingly expansive cultural footprint as we work towards a global renaissance. Together; guided by the pillars of equity, collaboration and self-determined representation, we will use our platform to foster and showcase the incredible talent which continues to enrich the experiences of our community.

We developed our platform to ensure liberation for marginalized  trans and queer artists of color in the arts and media, as well as to affirm a sustained investment in our innate gifts and talents. At the inception of our collective in June 2020, we did not have any funds to support our vision and goals. In spite of this reality,  we were not discouraged to manifest the vision we had for our community.   Through the collective power of our international community with participating talent from Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Texas and Colombia,  we created a virtual Zoom Pride party that raised $17,000 in support of black and Indigenous trans women in the red light district of Bogota, Colombia. The success of this project further invoked a drive in us to continue building an international network for trans and queer POC to transcend beyond imposed limitations of the pandemic by creating space that honours our strength and resilience.

In November 2020 we produced our first short film TOXIC inspired by Michael Jackson’s iconic music video, “Thriller.” Updated with an entirely queer cast starring model and trans-activist, Gia Love, and members of the House of Xtravaganza. This project was a labour of love and our revolutionary response to the lack of queer POC representation in the film industry. It was crucial to demonstrate the importance of having black trans femmes activating their creative power both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. After the completion of this project we were blessed in receiving support from the Black Trans Femmes In the Arts (BTFA) Collective to compensate the cast and crew who contributed to bringing our ideas to fruition.

With this GoFundMe we aim to further our vocation to create spaces that affirm our collective power and activate our creative energy to manifest a new world paradigm that embodies a  consciousness of love rooted in solidarity and peace. We have set our goal at $100,000 and the money we raise will allow us to ;

-financially invest in the collective through production and labor costs to create content that advances visibility for our artists
-Fund the legal process of registering as a non profit organization
-Providing on the ground resources to queer communities worldwide
-Creating internal workshops, classes, and events within the collective, centred around mental health, pooling shared knowledge and fostering community
 -Creating an online presence for the collective through website and social media
 Acquire property for unhoused black trans members of our community

We appreciate any donations to support our mission, and would also be grateful for any support in sharing our message. Please check out our Instagram (@angelito.collective)  to stay up to date with our future projects.
