'Our Oscar’

With permission from the parents of Oscar -Natalie and Russell the wonderful Fair’s Family, we are sharing their time over the last few weeks.

Our Oscar is a 13-year-old athletic young man playing for West Ham as a goal keeper for the last 5 years excelling in all avenues.

In recent weeks, he didn’t seem like Our Oscar showing symptoms unexplainable to any parent. After several visits to A & E and much persistence from his parents, Oscar finally went for an MRI. Sadly, the results were what every parent’s dread.

Southend Hospital found a tumour in Our Oscar’s brain, and he was taken straight to GOSH. Under further investigation a 6cm tumour was confirmed.

Our Oscar was admitted to GOSH, with a plan to remove as much as the tumour as possible. Our Oscar was taken to theatre on the 31st August 2023, where an amazing team of surgeons thankfully removed 95+% of the tumour after many hours of being under anaesthetic. He responded well to the operation and he spent a few days recovering with his family.

Sadly, the biopsy results come back and showed the tumour as Cancerous.

As you can imagine, the Fairs Family World has been turn upside down- the family are now waiting for further tests to determine what cancer this is, and how to best to give treatment.

We have set up this page to help the family with parking, congestion, food, bills general life worries so we can make this nightmare just a little bit easier.
