The Family of Asher Daniel Winston

Donation protected

Hello to all of you whom have come to visit Asher's page. Our names are Diane and Rich Lasby. We have had the privilege for 17 years and 4 months to call an amazing young man, Asher Daniel Winston our beloved grandson. His mother, Christina "Chrissy” Lasby Winston is Asher's mom and our loving daughter, who has lost the "Light of her Life." This is a very difficult time for Asher's entire family. His untimely and unexpected passing has left so many with a hole in their hearts. Funds raised will go towards Asher’s End of Life expenses as well as helping our daughter with outstanding financial obligations at this time.

Our sweet and loving Asher, who fought his "last battle of the mind" took his own life a few days before Christmas on Tuesday afternoon, December 20, 2022. As his beautiful soul /spirit left his earthly body, in a split second he was met by Jesus to take him home. Asher was Neurodivergent, the conditions that accompany Autism and ADHD can be quite debilitating to say the least. He didn't want to go; he just knew he could no longer stay. Most days it took every ounce of strength he had to make it through that day. He longed for the Peace, Calmness and Joy he now has for so very long. When he was in the "present" his face would light up the room and his loving heart held no boundaries. Now his sweet spirit continues to light up a special room in all of hearts, forever more.

Asher was an incredible young man who was known for his generous love for all people. His heart was especially touched by other children who have and are suffering in so many ways as well as our homeless brothers and sisters in our community, whom sometimes didn't even know where their next meal would come from. Many times, when he and his mom were out together, if they passed someone who was struggling and lived on the streets, he would ask his mom to go to a convenience store and would choose items himself for a Blessing Bag and then they would go back and give it to the person they saw. His favorite UTube show was "Mr. Beast" - Why? Because this show is all about helping and giving to others, which inspired Asher and made him so happy when he gave to others.

He enjoyed being in nature and all things science, walking through the neighborhood, spending time at the beach with his mom and finding shells. Both of these things allowed him to see the beauty of God's creation outside. Asher also enjoyed singing, playing guitar, writing songs, poetry, and fiction stories that so related to our real world here on earth. His love for Musical Theater began in his early school years at Viera Charter School and continued while enrolled at Viera High. This carried over to many Broadway musicals he loved to watch time and time again. "Hamilton, Guys and Dolls, Dear Evan Hansen and Into the Woods" were just a few of his favorites. He enjoyed painting, making crafts with his mom and playing board games with the family, rollerblading in the local parks, serving his community, soccer, and spending time with his family. Asher's big brother Sebastian also plays guitar, and they shared each other's love for music since they were both very young. He also enjoyed meeting up with the other teen kids in his ASD Teen Support group through Brevard Autism Coalition on Thursday nights. He loved his East Coast Viera TNT (The New Thing) youth group and the leaders and looked forward to hanging with them every week on Sunday evenings. They all loved him and miss his beautiful spirit as well. We are only just beginning to find out how many people in his short life have been touched and inspired by him.

He is survived by his loving family, who are asking for your support during this very difficult time. As they take time to grieve and pick up the pieces of this tragic event, any donations made would be greatly appreciated by his family. His mother, who has worked when she could, will need to take more time off while proper arrangements are in the process of being made to honor his beautiful life and will also help her take care of other financial obligations.

May God Bless you and always remember – “People do the best they can with the emotional capacity that they have”

From Chrissy, "Please hug your kids a little tighter today and every day - for Asher"
