Treatment for extreme OCD

Donation protected
My name is Ellen and I’m 26 years old.
This is a difficult thing for me to talk about and This might seem like a weird picture but this bag and the 200+ pairs of gloves that are inside has been my life for over 8 years

I suffer from extreme OCD, where I don’t like touching things or things/people touching me, so I’ve worn gloves everyday for the past 8 years, I also put my phone in a plastic bag because I didn’t like anyone touching it or it touching surfaces etc. I wear hoodies and hats to keep my head and hair covered and always wear long sleeved tops and trousers so every part of my body is covered. It started whilst I was in uni and just gradually grew worse. I also have reynauds phenomenon which didn’t help. Obviously I got weird looks, especially in summer and always the question why are you wearing gloves? Aren’t you hot? To which I didn’t want to answer for feeling ashamed and embarrassed.

Having this has put immense strain on my relationships with my family and my boyfriend, my ability to find jobs where I can work with them on, it’s also had a massive impact on my mental health where I’ve just had days/weeks where I didn’t want to go on and give up, then a few weeks back it took its toll hard between me and my bf, and shook me into pushing myself to get better.

It’s been just over 4 weeks since that day where I have not worn gloves and not had my phone in a bag. This is obviously a massive change for me and I still struggle massively with it daily, getting used to how things feel again as I lost all sense of what things feel like,  I wish it was a switch that you could flip off but it’s not

After researching online I have found no one with a similar condition to mine that I can talk to properly. The reason I stared a go fund me was because I found a clinic that specialises in helping people with extreme ocd like me to help get better and to a point where you feel comfortable with yourself etc, but it’s £900 for a night and they advise that you spend at least one week there.
For me to be able to just be like everyone else and not wear my gloves etc would be a dream come true, and I know it’s a lot on my part to get better but I do need help.

Thankyou for taking the time to read my story and anything raised will be greatly appreciated and put into helping myself and my mental state get better.
