Urgent Need: Support Captain Dan Kilian's Family
Donation protected
As a member of our close-knit firefighting community, I'm reaching out with a heartfelt request for assistance in a matter that deeply affects us all.
In January 2023, Captain Dan Kilian received devastating news—a diagnosis of colon cancer. Since then, Dan has shown remarkable strength and resilience in confronting this formidable challenge. Despite undergoing rigorous treatments, the cancer has spread, presenting an even greater hurdle.
Throughout this challenging journey, Dan has demonstrated unwavering dedication to his duties, even after transitioning to an administrative role within the Fire Department in October 2023. His contributions to our department and the Village of West Dundee have been exceptional, particularly in managing Emergency Medicine and Fire Prevention.
However, in January 2024, Dan encountered a setback that complicated his treatment regimen and forced him to halt chemotherapy. Dan's situation has taken a tragic turn. On March 4th, he received a terminal diagnosis with a short timeline. His wife, family, and his fire department family are devastated.
This is our plea to everyone who knows and loves him, as well as to those who wish to provide support for his wife and 7-year-old son as they navigate the financial challenges of this difficult time. Any additional funds beyond what is necessary for immediate expenses will be set aside to establish a fund for Dan's son's future.
