Veterans sleep-out in Kyiv to raise needed funds

Three British military veterans, and Directors’ of global risk advisory and crisis response firm Inherent Risks, will be sleeping outside in Kyiv to raise funds for REACT Disaster Response.

Taking place over two-nights from the 23rd to the 25th February, this sleep-out will signify the two-year anniversary of when Russia illegally invaded Ukraine. The experience will serve to raise awareness of the struggles that thousands of civilians continue to face by being forced from their homes, in the dead of night, in below freezing temperatures.

Your donations could help fund the following:

£7 - Lightweight Food for Disaster Responders
£20 - Hygiene Kit for Displaced Families
£30 - Food Pack for a Family of 4 for 1 Week
£50 - Solar Panel Charger to Power a Household
£1,200 - Portable Community Water Purifier
£3,800 - Generator to Power a Hospital Ward

100% of the funds raised by Inherent Risks will go directly to REACT and will be used by them to help the most vulnerable and desperate people in Ukraine.

Mike O’Halloran, Matt Hooper and Dan Kaine will sleep outside overnight in freezing temperatures with just a mat and sleeping bag to experience, even for a short time, the discomfort that homeless and displaced people face every single night. Throughout the day they will also be distributing humanitarian aid to local community initiatives.

Russia invaded Ukraine in the early hours of February 24th, 2022 while millions of innocent people slept soundly in their beds. Within 36-hours of the invasion, Inherent Risks deployed to Ukraine to conduct emergency evacuations. They have been in the country ever since providing emergency medical evacuation and crisis response support to journalists, NGOs, war crimes investigators and visiting dignitaries.

While the 24th February is the day that Ukrainians will never forget, the 25th of February for us signifies the second anniversary of when Inherent Risks first entered Ukraine, an experience none of us will forget. When we first arrived desperate people where fleeing the country as humanitarian organisations were entering. At that time we promised to do as much good as possible while we are here, and with this initiative we are just continuing on that promise.

Please donate today. Your donation will go straight to the communities that need it most.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION:

Ukraine is an active war zone with frequent missile and drone attacks being launched by Russia at targets across the country, including the country's capital, Kyiv. As such there is a curfew in place from 23:00hrs to 06:00hrs. Inherent Risks has been granted permission to sleep outside, in a controlled area. In the event of air-raid sirens, Mike, Matt and Dan will make their way into a bomb shelter for safety just as the local population has been doing for 730 days and nights. A full risk assessment has been carried out, and all security and safety precautions will be taken.
