Victor Dockrell fundraising for a new mobility scooter

Hi, my name is Amy and I'm fundraising for my 81 year old grand father , who is in need of a new mobility scooter. ( He is a Veteran )

On July 18th , 2024 around 130 pm , down town Elora , Ontario. My grandfather Victor Dockrell was ran over by a pickup truck, while he was on his mobility aid scooter . The back wheel of the pickup truck ,ended up going over my grandfather and knocking him off his mobility scooter. Which resulted in crushing the scooter and leaving him pinned underneath.

My grandfather was taken to Groves Memorial Hospital, were they preformed x-rays . Luckily he suffered no broken bones , only heavy bruising. He currently has a sore shoulder( left artificial shoulder ) , left arm and left leg.

My grandfather's scooter is highly damaged and the repair is equivalent to a new mobility scooter . My grandfather cannot walk long distances, due to cancer treatments leaving his feet tingling and numb. He does not drive and the scooter provides his freedom.

Victor served in the Canadian Armed forces. He was a gunner in the artillery division from 1961-1972. He is a Veteran and has served our country proud . He Currently serves as an active member of the Canadian legion .

My grandfather is currently borrowing a mobility aid scooter from the veteran's program, that I had arranged for him . He will be needing his own scooter shortly.

Even though information was exchanged, from the young driver hitting my grandfather. No charges were laid from the opp apparently . My 81 year old grandfather , will have to take the driver to civil court , to replace the scooter . My grandfather is 81 years old and just had finished chemo treatments and radiation on his 3rd round of cancer (just before this accident). My grandfather cannot handle anymore stress . Taking the driver to court , on a small pension is not doable.

Victor is well known in our small town of Elora , for being kind and helpful towards many fundraising events with the Canadian Legion . Please help me in fundraising for a new mobility aid scooter. Anything will help in this cause , so he can regain his freedom .
