"When She Became Me" Reading and Fundraiser
Tax deductible
Teresa Veramendi and Robyn Ginsburg Braverman are producing two staged readings of the pro-choice documentary play When She Became Me in San Jose on January 13 & 20 in 2023, right before the 50th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision on January 22. Our readings will be free, public events encouraging donations to this GoFundMe for Access Reproductive Justice.
Access RJ is an Oakland-based nonprofit that combines direct services, community education, and policy advocacy to promote real reproductive options and access to quality health care for people in California. We support Access RJ because, alongside their English and Spanish language hotlines, they help organize funding, transportation, lodging, childcare, meal funds, doula and emotional support care, and much more. We aim to support people in need right now; people cannot wait months for new legislation to access healthcare.
When She Became Me is a pro-choice documentary play comprised of real stories from people who had abortions before and after Roe v. Wade, written by Elizabeth Horab (she/they), whose mother worked at the only abortion clinic in North Dakota in the 1990s. The script has been updated for 2022-2023, with new interviews responding to the overturning of Roe.
When She Became Me is being directed and co-produced by playwright and SJSU lecturer Teresa Veramendi, with Robyn Ginsburg Braverman as Assistant Director and Co-Producer. All participants are volunteers, including the playwright, director, and actors.
Want to join us in making a difference right now? Help us raise money to benefit Access Reproductive Justice; any donation will help create an impact. Thanks in advance for contributing to this cause, which means so much to us.
