Double Donations for Euros 2024: Help Women's Aid Now!

The Euros should be a source of entertainment and joy for us all – the chance to unite in support of our national team, whether you’re a football lover or just enjoy the excitement that a big tournament like this brings.

Sadly, for countless women up and down the country this is not the case. In fact it’s quite the opposite – they feel alone and fearful.

For women and children experiencing domestic abuse tournaments like these can put them at even greater risk.

Although football doesn’t cause domestic abuse, where it is already present, big games like this can make existing abuse more frequent and severe.

As we kick off the euros this week, please remember who truly needs the nation’s support the most…

With 1 in 4 women subjected to domestic abuse in their lifetime and at least one woman a week killed by their abuser, there is so much more to lose than just a football game.

Showing domestic abuse the red card:

Women’s Aid has a strong track record of campaigning around major football tournaments to raise awareness of support services for survivors and encourage everyone to play their part in ending domestic abuse for good.

Football will hopefully be coming home, but for too many women after the game, their abuser is coming home.

- Melanie Brown MBE, Women’s Aid Patron

Donate today and help us be here for survivors throughout the tournament and beyond, with the support they so desperately need and deserve.

GoFundMe will generously be matching the first £5,000 donated to our campaign, so your donation could go even further.

A note from Alice Liveing: I started working with Women’s Aid in 2018, and my role was not only to represent the charity, but also show that there is life after abuse. I was drawn to working with the charity after experiencing my own case of domestic abuse when I was only 16 years old, in the first relationship that I got into. I feel so passionate about supporting the invaluable work that they do.

While you’re watching the Euros this summer, remember that for a lot of women and children it’s going to be an especially difficult and scary time. Your donations could save lives.
