Xochi & Ingrid's Wedding Gift and Honeymoon Fundraiser

Hi, we are so excited to say that we're getting married on June 8th! Since we met we have both been absolutely elated to share our lives together more and more. We met because of Uproar Comedy Open Mic and after two years of admiring each other from afar, we got to talking over art, aquariums and videogames. Since then we've only realized more and more how lucky we are to have found each other. It feels like a perfect union of complimentary personalities, interest, life goals, and dreams.

We are lucky enough to have support from Ingrid's mom from an emotional standpoint as well as some financial support for the wedding itself. In our already expensive society, the wedding industry costs are also no joke. We started off feeling very optimistic about having our dream wedding with a modest budget and thought we could have a honeymoon with it all too. Even after making many compromises, we were only barely able to afford the wedding we wanted without completely compromising on the vision. Even with all the support we have in our lives, there is always more we could do with.

Some of the support that is most needed is due to the debt we've both acquired over the years. Most recently Xochi was out of work for 4 months trying to find employment, and not compromising on starting pay.

We both work as special education assistants for Minneapolis Public Schools, and are certainly not paid anywhere near enough. MPS is notorious for taking forever to hire someone. In those 4 months Xochi was without work, rent and bills piled up to over 3,000 on her end. We' are set to be able to pay most of it back thanks to bonuses being handed out this year, but since Xochi got hired December, she's ineligible for 2 very hefty bonuses. We tried for emergency assistance from the county but unfortunately they factored in her rate of pay from MPS even before she received a paycheck and denied us for "making too much."

We would love an extra cushion for emergencies, things to make our house more of a home, and some funds to plan a honeymoon for ourselves as well. We wish we could have even more folks join our wedding ceremony and reception but are grateful to have who we have on the list at the very least.
