Zak's Hill Climb Challenge
I've always wanted to challenge myself to do something extremely hard. Ever since I started riding bikes I have learnt a lot about my body and limits I can push. Recently, I had discovered the EVERESTING Challenge in which you ride 29,029ft/8848m in one go by repeatedly riding up a hill. In my case, up my local infamous hill (Birdy Brow) approximately 70 times! With hardly any training and lots of motivation this is my goal on my hill climb challenge. Even if I don't make this goal, I hope the money raised can help other people around the world who are less fortunate. People in developing countries can spend hours everyday walking to get clean water or to reach school or work. Access to a bike can transform the lives of families and can increase the income of a family in Africa by 35%! For this reason I have chosen the charity RE-CYCLE.
The Everesting challenge should not be underestimated as only 7,000 people have managed to complete it worldwide. Every 20 climbs of Birdy Brow would mean approximately 5 hours in the saddle, in pain and on steep gradients up to 15%. I hope we can raise enough for my suffering to count!
