My Fathers Funeral Fund
Donation protected
On the 2nd of April 2017, my father, Edward Weeden died at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesborough.
My father had battled various illnesses throughout his lifetime including Stomach Cancer which he survived but suffered many side effects following the treatment. In his final months of life, he was housebound with severe nerve damage to his lower body preventing him from walking. He was cared for by Neighbours and Nurses.
As his only son, I have been left as legal next of kin. My father had no savings, has a small amount of money in the bank but not enough to cover the costs of a funeral. I am hoping to raise £1600 (plus the 7.8% gofundme fee) to cover the expense of a low-cost funeral. This will be a cremation and early morning service at Yearby Crematorium.
I am not eligible to claim any government support to cover cremation costs, as I am not in receipt of any benefits even though my father was. Currently, age 17 I am a full-time student at Cleveland College of Art and Design, studying Level 3 BTEC Graphic Design. My Mum is self-employed and on a low income and does also not have the money to cover the cost.
I have set up this fund for friends and family, where possible to please assist me in providing a basic funeral so that I may celebrate my Dad's life and invite you all to join me.
My dad was a very stubborn yet loving person, and he always wanted the best for me through thick and thin. He cherished his friends and family and I had spent so many fun times with him in this world. He was a hero and he was strong.
I love you, dad. x
