On 24 April 2013, 1,113 people were killed and over 2,500 were injured when the Rana Plaza complex collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh. We believe that’s too many people to lose on one day.
That’s when Fashion Revolution was born.
We believe that fashion can be made in a safe, clean and beautiful way. Where creativity, quality, environment and people are valued equally.
On 24 April every year, Fashion Revolution Week brings people from all over the world together to use the power of fashion to change the story for the people who make the world’s clothes and accessories.
Last year, Fashion Revolution was a great success, thanks to the huge support from individuals and companies working probono. We had 1429 events around the world, our hashtag #whomademyclothes had a reach of 63 million people, and we trended on twitter. Press coverage had a 16.5 billion online reach, with coverage in The Diplomat, Vogue, ID magazine, BBC World Service, Grazia, CNN, Marie Claire, Drapers and Fox News. Our video 'The 2 Euro T-shirt: a Social Experiment ' went viral with 7 million views to date, and later winning a Bronze prize at the Cannes Lion Film Festival.
We want to continue developing our platform and offer resources to grow the movement and transform the fashion industry. Last year we launched our 'How to be a Fashion Revolutionary ' booklet, a white paper in Brussels, educational resources for schools and universities, a series of mini videos , our 'Haulternative ' guide, and packs for brands , wholesalers, distributors, retailers, and producers , farmers and factories.
This year we want to grow even bigger. We want to bring the Fashion Revolution to more people in more countries, across the whole supply chain.
To continue to grow Fashion Revolution as a global movement for change, we need your financial support. Even the smallest donation will help us to continue delivering the resources we need to run our revolution.
Some of you have been on this journey with us since we first started, others will be discovering our movement just now; but we are all in it for the same cause, to make fashion better.
Please donate, be a part of this movement and help us keep going from strength to strength.
We can, if you help.
Thank you for your gift. We will use it wisely.
