New Art Studio, New Opportunities
Hi! I'm Fawne DeRosia and I own an art studio in Thomaston, Georgia. I opened up the Fawne DeRosia Studio & Gallery in 2010. It served as a small workspace and gallery. (Here's a tour.) A year later, the space next door opened up and I moved there. The extra space allowed for events like instructor-led painting parties (My first one was my daughter's birthday party), and artist meet-ups (I have friends over at least once a week to work on our own projects).
Here's what I didn't mention in the video: This space doesn't have central heat and air. That means in the wicked Georgia summers, the space is useless. Even with a portable air unit...it just doesn't work. This year I tolerated it, and thankfully the Georgia winters are mild enough to get by on some space heaters. But I knew I had to find a new space if I wanted to work through the Summer of 2014.
The FD Studio & Gallery has to move, and soon. The weather is warming up and the Georgia heat will be upon us in no time.
This move will allow me to rename the gallery, to make it less about me and more about the space itself, and the people involved. I plan on having one gallery space to exhibit artwork by me and my husband, as well as gallery employees and volunteers. The second room be a classroom for my "Arty Parties" for kids and adults. In the future I'd love to host workshops on Saturday mornings, poetry slams, artist meet-ups, sketch nights with models, etc. The ideas keep coming!
Look at all these lovely painters!
The third room will be a private tattoo area. It will be closed off from the public (kids will definitely not be allowed in this room, and it will have its own entrance.) and up to county and city health code.

My passion is in making art: on people, with people, and for people. (Isn't that clever? Did you see my face in the video?) If it's creative, I want a piece of it and I want to share it with everyone. I want everyone to feel welcome in my (our!) studio. I want it to be a place where when you walk in you feel encouraged to be creative.
The money raised from this GoFundMe campaign will be used SOLELY towards the studio. A small percentage will be put towards a new floor, and a new coat of paint on the walls. Another percentage will be used to install wifi. Then there's joining the local Chamber of Commerce, and advertising. Then I'll be stocking up on canvases for my Arty Parties, and buying plenty of paintbrushes for all my artists. Let's not forget PAINT PAINT PAINT!
If this campaign is extremely sucessful, I'll start a scholarship program for children in need. This is something I've been trying to work out for some time, and if it doesn't happen now it will happen in the future.
Here are some of the rewards:
A canvas bag with my peacock design:
Lino Block Prints:
And a limited edition print of my newest watercolor painting:
Every contributor will have a special place in my heart AND on my website (link coming soon).
I appreciate your time, and thank you so much for reading and watching all of this. I'll make sure to keep this page updated, hopefully weekly.
With your help, we can make this happen! Thank you!
