Fight against Discrimination
Donation protected
In October of 2014, I signed a lease for my apartment. I told the apartment manager that I had a service animal. The apartment manager stated that I would still need to pay a pet fee through the apartments therapy pet fee. I proceeded with paying half the payment. In November, I found out that it was still against the law for her to charge me for my service animal. Upon confronting the apartment manager, she proceeded to threaten me with eviction. I have hired an attorney and can't pay all the fees. My attorney believes we have a case of discrimination against a disabled person by her forcing me to pay a pet fee when the law states that I can not be forced to it. I am asking for help to fight for myself and those around me who have service animals to throw out this "Therapy Pet Fee." I have involved the department of justice, as well as housing under development. According to the Fair housing act, landlords and apartments are not allowed to charge a pet fee for service animals. I have all the documentation proving my dog is a service animals. Please help me fight this injustice!!!
