Help a Trans Woman Learn to Dream

Donation protected
Heya, I'm Morgan, a 31-year-old trans woman currently living in Minneapolis...and, after I left Milwaukee in July 2015 (after the lease expired for the place I was at, and various other housing options fell through), I lived in four different places that I really wasn't able to call home, not nearly as much as Milwaukee was...tried Madison first, that didn't work out for a multitude of reasons. Then, I moved to Chicago, thinking that I'd be able to find a job here fairly quickly...so I took a 2-month sublease on a room in Logan Square, but didn't end up actually starting work until the day that I had to move out.

Next up was 6 weeks with my then-girlfriend before that imploded spectacularly...then I moved into a preexisting "trans house", which was mostly fine (apart from a little bit of drama that October, far less than the "house full of trans women" thing usually gets), then I managed to find an absolutely amazing girlfriend and moved in with her in May 2017...at least, that's what I thought, but then she proceeded to trample over every boundary I tried to put up and progressively got more abusive,  including (by the end) psychological torture through intentional sleep deprivation, until I was fully ready to start walking north until I couldn't walk anymore and just lay down and die.

I did manage to escape to a charity boarding house in the middle of March 2018, followed by a series of friends' couches in 2019 before getting to Minneapolis in October '19...I'm not quite at home yet, but the housing situation is at least safe, semi-stable, and sober now (I've been lucky to have one of those over the previous few years).

The main reason that I've had to turn to this: I haven't a job since being fired in April 2016 because an older coworker had a problem with my transition...I already have my name and drivers license changed (including the gender marker), those won't be a problem, I just need some help to get my feet under me again...at this point, that's likely going to require going back to college, which requires me having $1000 to spend on getting the hold removed from my UW-Whitewater account while still being able to afford things like "bus fare to get around the city" and "maybe, once every month or two, being able to go out to eat with friends without having to hope that one of them can cover me" and "keeping a storage locker so I don't lose absolutely everything".

Please, even if you can't send any money, share this as widely as you can...I'll start paying it forward the moment that I'm not crushed under my current debt load, all it's going to take is me getting back on track...and maybe finding someone I can actually trust again.
