VIVRE HAITI! FOUNDATION

Imagine not being able to read or write your own name on a piece of paper.

Imagine not being able to count to 10.

Imagine spending 24 hours with no food.

In third world countries such as Haiti, families, children, pregnant women, and the elderly all have these disadvantages. We are all aware of the fact that poverty exist, but in countries like Haiti, poverty takes on another form. The severity of this lack of resources forces one to eat cookies made out of dirt to survive. If these people can't eat actual food on a regular basis, there is no possible way they would be able to afford school for their children. In Haiti, almost all the schools are private, and the one's that are free are full. Furthermore, the children are not only starving, but most of them will never get an opportunity to get an education. 

*According to Unicef, 50% of primary school age children are not enrolled in school. 

*Approximately 30% of children attending primary school will not make it to third grade.

As a college student, I know that education is very important. Nelson Mandela stated " Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." I have started a school at an abandoned community in Hinche, Haiti. The school is currently in my mother's backyard. She unites the children everyday, and teaches them how to read and write. She cooks for them and provides them with free meals everyday. We would love to continue doing so, but do not have the funds on our own.

 Our mission is to fundraise enough to rebuild the school, provide  supplies, clothing, and free meals to the poverty-stricken children. Eventually, I want to build an orphanage next to the school, because many of the students are orphans who are sleeping on people's porches. Donations  will also be used to ship all the items that have been donated from the drives we sponsor.

Vivre Haiti! hopes to make the world a better place, but  we are unable to do it on our own. Together, we can. Even $1 can make a difference, a difference big enough to save a life. Every dollar donated is helping feed, clothe, and educate a child.
