Spoonfoolery Federal Worker Meal

Donation protected

Thank you to everyone who has donated to this campaign to make and serve meals to the federal workers affected by the recent government shutdown. As they receive one of their missed paychecks this week and the rest in coming weeks, we realize some may still be in need of help getting dinner on the table. Bills have piled up, and things like rent, mortgage payments, car payments, and day care come first, and then comes filling their fridges and pantries. We will continue to do the work to help them with additional meal service days in coming weeks. We also know that nothing is for certain with this current government administration and that February 15 looms large in federal workers' lives. They could experience this shutdown all over again, and we need to be there for them.

My name is Mamata Reddy, and I own Spoonfoolery, a cooking school for young people in Evanston's West End. I am raising these funds as an individual who will make use of my kitchen space to cook these meals. The funds will be deposited into a personal checking account I'll use to purchase the groceries specifically for these meals. These funds will not be used by my business or my family. They will only be used to make purchases pertaining to feeding these folks. Any leftover meals not picked up by federal workers will be donated to local churches, homeless shelters, day cares, and other organizations in need.
