Haitian Girls vball team get to AAU

Donation protected

I have just returned from spending some time in Southern Haiti working with a girls volleyball team there in Les Cayes. These girls come from the poorest of poor families. I have had the priviledge to travel and serve

in Guatemala and Uganda and never have I experienced the level of poverty I did while in Haiti.
This is such an impoverished country, but Rod and Debbie Wray and their family reach out to their local village, community and nearby city through sports camps, the organization of free weddings, construction of homes for squatters, weekly Sunday school and food distribution for 1200 children and run a club volleyball team for local girls.

This is the part where we would love to come alongside the Wrays and help them. These girls train 5-6 days a week,   and Rod's vision is to see these girls one day represent and bring pride to their home country of Haiti. Girls have very little value in Haiti and are considered by most to be "worthless". Through being a part of this team, and what they have learned from the Wrays, the girls know that this is not true; that they do have value and worth.

The problem that faces this team is that the volleyball world in Haiti is nothing like Canada or the USA. It is disorganized, chaotic and really, there is no one their age that the girls can play and have any competition. They play the local men's and women's team each week, but need better competition to excel to the highest level.
My desire is to raise $10,000 so that this team of U-15 girls can travel and compete at the AAU volleyball championships in nearby Orlando, Florida. This experience would give these girls many great competitive games  and much needed insight into where their skills need improving.
I am a mom to five children and they have all had the priviledge to play sports at the highest level they were able to. I would love to help these girls do the same.
Could you please join me in supporting them and their athletic abilities?
Thanks so very much,
Laura
