Building an Outdoor Garden at NHS

Donation protected
Negaunee High School’s Environmental Science class is creating and managing a school garden and an outdoor natural space to utilize in their education.   We want to have an outdoor space where students can learn about the importance of growing food for healthy living and the role of nature and our environment.  Studies have shown that project-based learning can enhance a student’s understanding by making academic topics more hands-on.  This type of learning environment can provide a profound understanding about nature and the many science concepts associated with it.  At NHS, we want our students to be curious, enthusiastic, life-long learners and we feel that project-based learning is an important means to reaching that goal.

Thanks to the support and generosity of Moyle Excavating, we have broken ground for our outdoor garden.  The area has been bulldozed and leveled off and we are now ready to implement the students’ plans.  We hope to do this with your help.  Please consider donating any amount to help offset the costs of the materials associated with our project.  The garden and natural space will need items such as hoop houses, raised garden beds, soil, gardening equipment, plants, trees, mulch, etc.

Please consider donating to help support our school garden project.  Together, we can watch it “grow.”

Thank You

Thanks Again
