Help Launch 3thirty3
Donation protected
What if?
Not too long ago, I asked that question on my blog -
Tempus Fugit. What this led to was a pretty great fundraising effort to help put an end to poaching of endangered species by raising money for the International Anti-Poaching Foundation - and this went pretty well. A good amount of money was raised, awareness was heightened. The Tempus Fugit Initiative (with the help of "spokes elephant" Peanut) was a short-term success.
But what happens next? Because as with any single action, once the "fund raiser" is over, that's it. But the problem still hasn't been solved.
I realized that it was not fair to keep going to watch companies and hitting them up for endless donations. The secret was to create a watch company that had charitable action built into the business plan. To be clear - NOT TO CREATE A NEW CHARITY - but to create a business that, through its success, could help charitable causes in a meaningful and sustainable way.
And through that experience 3thirty3 was born.
3thirty3 is a new watch brand that we hope to launch in the next few months. The concept behind 3thirty3 is pretty simple -
1. Take 100% of the price of a watch
2. Divide that price by 3 and you come up with 33.3 %
3. Take that 33.3% and donate it to a charitable organization that is trying to solve what is considered to be an "unsolveable" problem.
This is what we intend to do.
To start with, we'd like to focus on 2 organizations proactively working to do something positive -
The IAPF and Drop in the Bucket by creating a series of high-quality Swiss-made quartz watches with 33% of the retail price of the watches going to support these organizations. These watches will retail for - you guessed it - $333.
This is the preliminary rendering for the 3thirty3 for the IAPF .
And this is the preliminary rendering for the watch to benefit Drop in the Bucket .
A donation of $333 will get you one of the first 3thirty3 watches (estimated late December/early January).
A donation of $50 will get you a fab 3thirty3 t-shirt -
In red
or blue
But back to the watch!
One important note - these watches will come with "Vegan" watch straps! That's right, the outer portion of the strap is made of sailcloth, and the underside is crafted of lorica!
"But wait! Innocent Loricas died for my watch strap?"
Nope!
Lorica is in fact, a textile that although is like leather is much better. Lorica is comprised of synthetic micro-fibers that thanks to special treatments provide all of the postive aspects of leather without, well, the leather.
Here are the rest of the "vital statistics" -
The case is 40 mm of stainless steel goodness. A sapphire crystal front, with a solid stainless steel back engraved with the 3thirty3 logo.
Water resistant to 100 meters.
A Ronda 515 quartz movement ensures that you'll be on time.
And Like Any Other Brand - We Have Ambassadors!
Meet Peanut and Samuel! Their previous rolls as Spokes Elephant and Spokes Rhino for the Tempus Fugit Initiative make them natural choices!
Welcome to the 3thirty3 family!
The world has a LOT of problems...
So our hope is to create future collaborations with organizations working to make the world a better, safer, more equitable place. And with any luck, help to solve a few of the problems out there.
Made in Switzerland!
We have identified a manufacturer, we have finalized a design, but as you can probably imagine, making watches is not like making t-shirts. The start-up costs are pretty high and this is where you come in.
In addition to the quartz pieces that will be offered, we will be creating a mechanical watch featuring a high quality SWISS self-winding movement, assembled one at a time here in the US.
These are the preliminary dial renderings for the mechanical pieces -
This rendering is for the anti-poaching watch to benefit the IAPF.
This rendering is for the watch to benefit Drop in the Bucket.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
