Gavyn's service dog

To our family and friends,
Our goal in creating this page is to help with the extensive cost to aquire and train Gavyn's new service dog, HERO.
Gavyn is an energetic 8-year-old boy who loves playing with Lego, being outdoors and learning new things, especially about dogs. In 2014, Gavyn was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorder. Over the years, Gavyn has had his good days, and his bad days. We watch Gavyn struggle daily as he tries to process the world around him. No matter how hard the struggles get, he continues to fight.
Children with Autism are in a constant state of anxiety due to impaired understanding of relationships and social expectations of everyday life. The stress can trigger anxiety and significant upset.
The cost of Hero is $30,000. Hero will be trained specific to Gavyn’s needs. Some of Hero’s training will include deep touch pressure, this refers to a form of a sensory input which is often provided by cuddling or firm holding. Deep touch pressure acts as a calming and focusing agent and will help Gavyn cope with stress and anxiety of his everyday challenges. Hero will increase Gavyn’s safety and security. Hero will help prevent "bolting" when reacting negatively to an event where his anxiety is high or he is placed in a stressful situation. Having Hero will encourage social interactions, the redirection of repetitive behaviors, improve his independence, and will provide an overall calmer environment for Gavyn while performing everyday tasks.
Autistic children who have service dogs have been documented to feel less anger and experience fewer acts of aggression.
Any donation will help, and we thank you so much for the generosity and love!
Sincerely,
Gavyn’s aunts, uncles, and cousins.
